IF THE BRACKET WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, THE COMPONENTS COULD BE DISLODGED WHEN THE BOOM IS RAISED TOWARDS THE MAXIMUM ELEVATION AND COULD CAUSE THE ATB SWITCH, COVER, AND WEIGHT TO FALL, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO PEOPLE OR PROPERTY BELOW.

Technical Summary ALTEC IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2011 AC38 AND MODEL YEAR 2011 AC18 AND AC23 UTILITY VEHICLES, EQUIPPED WITH AN ANTI-TWO BLOCK (ATB) SWITCH TREE GUARD OPTION. THE ATB TREE GUARD SWITCH BRACKET MAY HAVE BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY.

The inadequate mounting brackets may allow the outrigger to bend, reducing the stability of the crane truck which could result in injury, death, and/or property damage.

Technical Summary Altec is recalling certain model year 2010-2012 AC18, AC23, and AC38 cranes with front bumper outriggers mounted on Kenworth chassis between November 2010 and October 2012. The brackets that attach the outrigger to the front bumper of the chassis may be inadequate to support the full capacity of the crane in certain positions.
