In the event of a crash, the seat belt D-ring mounting may detach, preventing the seat belt from restraining the occupant. Loss of brake lights may mislead other drivers if they are unaware the vehicle is stopping or slowing down, which increases the risk of crash. If the pin continues to slide out further, the pedal may detach, increasing the risk of crash.
